World War Two Assessment
Objectives:
- gain further and deeper knowledge on a specific WWII topic
- understand the general geography of the world (oceans, continents, WWII countries)
- understand a thesis, how to write one, and how to support it
- improve researching & critical thinking skills (know what is important/credible & what is not)
- gain understanding of and ability to create quality work (both content & visual)
- improve time management by making a timeline of goals
- students & teacher-crafted rubric - points, specifics, & goals
- improve YOUR writing skills; please work on the writing portions for yourself
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual = tri-fold board
- at least 4 photos with captions (no maximum of pics)
- Quality Standards:
- make sure it is full, not over-crowded
- title & sub title for paragraphs
- look appealing to the eye (color, clean, organized, borders, easy to read fonts)
- include a map as one of your photos - make sure to label the areas in which you are referring in your project
- Informational Content:
- 4 “beefy” paragraphs
- list of interesting facts (at least 4)
- Intro paragraph to the topic, general info & thesis (minimum: 5 sentences)
- who was affected by this topic? (minimum: 7 sentences)
- impact your topic had after WWII (minimum: 7 sentences)
- impact your topic had on WWII (minimum: 7 sentences)
- Quality Standards:
- proper grammar in all writings
- complete sentences
- proper formatting
- proper punctuation
- use quotations when quoting
- MLA & Works Cited used
- at least 3 sources used
- scholarly writing (stay concise, no conjunctions, no conversational language, no text language)
- do not go off on tangents, stay on topic
- 50/50 research to notes
- credible sources only (.org, .gov, Biography, History, Britannica, etc.) Please run other websites by Mrs. Miga to see if they are credible.

What does quality work sound like?
- It all seemed happy in the 50’s but that’s just the surface, there is plenty of paranoia and racism in the 50’s.
- IMPROVED: On the surface the 50s seem happy, however paranoia and racism lie underneath. (changed tenses and was conversational)
- Communism was a huge deal sixty years ago.
- IMPROVED: Communism was a major concern sixty years ago. (scholarly vs. conversational)
- In this paper, I will go into depth explaining each component of the Fifties.
- IMPROVED: The 1950s were complex due to its diverse components such as... (No first-person pronouns)
- Communism was done was so that everyone had an even amount of money and items that they owned.
- IMPROVED:Communism gained popularity since it claimed to provide each citizen with the money and goods they needed. (Wordy and confusing)
